On Jan. 3, 2009, an anonymous computer programmer with the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto launched the software of today's ubiquitous Bitcoin network. No one (not even Satoshi himself) could have guessed that 12 years later this network would evolve into a monetary phenomenon of global proportions. Here at Belgian Bitcoin Embassy, our goal is to provide a general point of contact for any Belgian citizen with interest or questions about this topic. We also offer courses, workshops and consultations to assist people and companies in their quest for greater financial independence.
We ourselves are two passionate bitcoiners who love to share our passion with anyone who is interested. We firmly believe that we can make a valuable contribution to the growth of the Bitcoin ecosystem in Belgium. We are only too happy to use our passion and experience to form a source of information that people can rely on, and ultimately to confirm Bitcoin's reputation as a worthy alternative to the current financial system.

Although I had heard of Bitcoin before, I didn't come into serious contact with it until 2017. Only then did the "click" come for me to delve more deeply into this fascinating technology. The more I read about it or heard about it in numerous podcasts, the more I began to realize just From then on, this topic has not let go of me.

I first came in contact with Bitcoin in 2016 through a podcast with Andreas Antonopoulos. My interest was immediately piqued but, like what happens to so many when they first encounter Bitcoin, I lost sight of the project again shortly after. In early 2017, a colleague brought to my attention that a real "boom" was developing around Bitcoin. Determined not to make the same mistake as the year before, I began my quest for better insights and knowledge about this fascinating phenomenon. A quest that, far beyond all my expectations in 2017, continues to this day and has impacted my life in more ways than one.

My first introduction to Bitcoin took place in 2016 when I stumbled upon an online forum where enthusiastic discussions were taking place about this new form of digital currency. I quickly began mining bitcoin on my gaming computer, even though it became clear early on that it was not profitable. It was not until 2019 when a friend pointed it out to me that I started conducting serious research into this innovative technology. Since then, I have developed a profound interest in the opportunities that Bitcoin provides, and I am determined to assist others in understanding and embracing the benefits of this technology.
